Take off what holds water
Cushions, sails, lines, the liferaft, anything textile. They come back aboard dry rather than mildewed, and the saloon does not smell of the winter in April.
Leave it breathing
Lockers open, floorboards lifted, a dehumidifier if there is shore power. Sealed and warm is how a boat grows mould; cold and ventilated is how it survives.
Do the jobs now
The yard is quiet, the tradesmen are available and the parts are in stock. The same work booked in March costs more and is done in a hurry against a launch date.
